Ookong is pronounced as [u:kuŋ]. He is the main character in the classical Chinese epic novel Journey to the West and is best known as the Monkey King in the west.
The fantasy, Journey to the West, relates the adventures of a Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) monk Sanzang and his three disciples, Monkey (Wu-Kong), Pig (Wu-Neng) and monk Sha (Wu-Jing), as they travel west in search of Buddhist Sutra. The story describes how they vanquish demons and monsters, tramp over the Fiery Mountain, cross the Milky Way, and after overcoming many dangers, finally arrive at their destination - the Thunder Monastery in the Western Heaven - and find the Sutra.
So, we coin our endeavor as their quest for the Sutra and name our team and our team and our first project after Monkey King.
The standard spelling for Monkey King's name is wukong in Chinese pinyin. Our spelling is inspired from Master Oogway in Kung Fu Panda.
